MAXENCE MARTINIANI

Hello, I’m Maxence 👋
I’m a game design Master’s student at Cnam-ENJMIN.
I've been making games for more than 10 years.
I shipped a game on Steam as a solo dev, and developed a project funded by the CNC.
I was also a student on industry veteran Chris Crawford’s class.
I did an internship at Baroque Decay studio at the end of the first year's Master's degree.
Before that, I worked as a screenwriter specialized in original fiction for television and radio for about 6 years (Radio France, Capa Drama…).

Right now, I'm looking for a 6 months internship in game design or system design.

Pitch & documentation
I've worked on projects pitched to TV channels (France Télévisions, Arte) and radio (Radio France). I've written grant applications and obtained funding from the CNC for a video game project. This experience enables me to write clear documentation and efficient pitches.
Prototyping
I've been prototyping games and mechanics for years, and have designed and coded over 30 prototypes presented in this portfolio. My coding skills allowed me to create prototypes for student and personal projects, as well as during my internship at Baroque Decay studio.
Narrative work
I've worked as a screenwriter for 6 years, and have written projects for a variety of media: TV series, radio dramas, short films... I know how to tell a good story in a variety of media, and what the interactive dimension of video games can bring to a narrative experience.
Technical skills
I've been programming for years and have used a variety of game engines. As part of a team, I'm able to speak the same technical language as the programmers, write documentation specifically for their needs, and act as a bridge between the design team and the programming team.

LATEST PROJECTS

A micro RPG that takes place in a theatre play. An audience is watching the performance, and reacting to your every move!

A 3D exploration game where you play an archaeologist descending from the gigantic abyss to study the ruins of a mysterious civilization.

A match-3 RPG battle system designed and prototyped during my Master 1 internship at Baroque Decay Studio as a technical designer.

A platformer where you can only jump. In an all-in-one map, climb higher and higher to reach the top.

TRIOSE (2024)

A co-op bullet hell where two players must cooperate to survive a boss fight together.

LOOP TYCOON (2024)

A management & factory game where you create real-time loops of production in order to build the most advanced civilization.

FACTORHYTHM (2021)

A puzzle game where you program a musical loop by placing elements and connecting them on a grid.

DUNGEON SLIDE (2021)

A puzzle game where players slide from one end of the map to the other, slicing up monsters to reach the next floor.

PARANOID POLAROID (2021)

A text-based narrative game where players can use their polaroid camera to take photos of the scenes they interact with and reveal the game’s visuals.

PLAYDATE SYNTH (2023)

A digital synthetizer made for the playdate, fully functionable with the cute crank of the console. It actually produces very nice sounds, as the playdate’s sound library is quite amazing!
